culvert pushing rain water and debris dine the school in fairfax. teachers in four classrooms packed up, their students will share other rooms or have classes in the library. >> i am worried about the kids adapting. >> the classes are already crowded. >> reporter: they are? >> with the construction, they have a bunch of students in small buildings. they have to share classrooms now. >> the school has been under construction since the summer. workers are building new 7th and 8th grade wings and a new music complex. the four damaged classrooms will take two months to repair. lorraine blanco, ktvu channel 2 news. >> the road washed out by the weekend storm will remain closed till next spring, maybe

till next summer. heavy rain overwhelmed a culvert. the sink hole damaged a water main and several homes lost water service. they plan to redesign it to prevent another washout. crews are scrambling to make remares. ktvu's robert handa -- remares. >> ktvu's robert handa is live now in san jose. >> reporter: the lull between storms came in time for a lot of people repairing and cleaning up. we showed you the ice rink after reopening. and now it is filled with happy skaters. but some of the other projects may not go as smoothie. >> reporter: -- smoothly. >> reporter: crews are trying trying to salvage this road that collapsed. this shows one lane is now

missing. >> i am glad it didn't happen while i was driving. i left yesterday for work. came back and saw this. >> we are thankful nobody drove into it. >> reporter: they filled sand bags today. >> we had flooding in my house. drainage ditch couldn't handle all the rain. we needed to divert everything. we will have to go up and take care of that water. >> reporter: he also has damage piling up. he began repairing his roof after two trees fell on it but then discovered another tree. >> it was up against the house. and every heavy rain storm we have had, the tree started to lean over from the weight. >> reporter: tonight workers in the mountains are trying to stabilize that road, enough for commuters to use as a one lane

arrested a 36-year-old man. the 16-year-old victim walked away from the youth center last tuesday. she was found two days later on a muni bus. her father also believes she was sexually assaulted. >> by looking at my daughter, i know what happened. i know what happened. the police know what happened but the police aren't discussing it with me. >> police confirmed the arrest but not releasing any other details. school was locked down after gunfire broke out after 11:30 a.m. this morning. the lock down was lifted about 1:00 p.m. this afternoon. a school district spokesman said police said they happen investigating a home invasion. police detained one person. another school was locked down after police were called to the campus at 2:00 p.m. this afternoon.

teachers and staff had students stay inside classrooms till the lock down was over. police haven't released details. the oscar grant case back in court today. a san francisco court is considering civil lawsuits against johannes mehserle and two other bart officers. at issue is whether johannes mehserle has immunity in the civil lawsuit. it could take 2-6 months for the court to make a decision. on friday the supreme court is expected to announce whether it will review prop 8. supporters are appealing to the supreme court after the court of appeals declared it unconstitutional. if they dechain to hear the appeal same-sex marriage could resume within a few days. landlord cannot evict a medical marijuana dispensary

apartments there. it has come under criticism by residents who say the deal was done without enough input from the public. the trust act aims to limit the ability of california law enforcement agencies to enforce federal immigration laws. governor jerry brown vetoed the bill in september. >> we must make sure secure communities focuses on violent criminals, not on day labor workers. not on women who are victims of domestic violence. a gay teen who spoke out after being denied his eagle scout award was honored today in sacramento.
